pretty stinkin’ good day…

i am pretty stoked right now…went to goodwill and got a bright yellow evan picone peacoat (which i would post pictures of if my stupid pantech jest phone would let me) for $8…i also purchased my first pair of yoga pants ever…i hear they are the ultimate in comfort whether you yoga or not, so we’ll see…also going out tonight to hear a mostly female band called ‘me’ which stands for maneater…

right now i’m also hanging out with the son and his awesome girlfriend…sitting outside on a gorgeous fall day…pretty much a perfect day!

my plane better not crash tomorrow or this excellent day will have been for naught…

(especially since i’m going to meet up with a pretty cool chick (who i only know from her blog) for brunch tomorrow once i hit chicago…)

pretty excited…

i have the whole weekend off!  what to do…what to do…

enh…prolly  this…

maeve kicking back

maeve kicking back…

so, this is what maeve and hubbkf do a lot of apparently while i am gone…perhaps this perpetuates maeve’s annoying habit of waking us up at 4:30 a.m. and barking until we come downstairs…just because she’s awake and bored…we usually take turns at this early morning wake-up and i will give hubbkf kudos because he takes more than i do…this morning he was up with her at 5:30…i went down at about 5:45 after he came back to bed…it makes here insanely happy to have somebody to play with…we played  a couple of rounds of ‘bite mommy’s hand!’, ‘who’s got your tail?!’ and the ever popular, never-ending all time-favorite ‘in-or-out, in-or-out’ in which she can not make up her damn mind about whether she wants to be in (‘playing bite mommy’s hand!’) or out (‘snuffle my little yellow frisbie along the ground because i don’t have opposable thumbs’)…then she took a wee little catnap but by then i was wide awake…i hate early mornings…but i did some writing, so that’s good…i have to learn how to hate early morning less and play more insanely like maeve…

3 photos = supreme joy…

tonight, i am going to:

morris theatre...

morris theatre…

to see this:

my french accent sucks so i just go with 'les mis'...

my french accent sucks so i just go with ‘les mis’…

with this girl:

aidertots

not only am i beyond excited to finally, finally see the movie, i will get my first peek inside the morris theater.  it’s pretty new…built in 1937-40 or so, but at the time it was the cat’s pajamas or some such since it was to be an

811 seat theatre building that would include three large apartments, two retail spaces, a luxurious lobby, and all the latest moviehouse features of the day.

and also, too…

The stage was large enough for vaudeville productions and dressing rooms were located in the basement. In the balcony there was a special “crying room” according to the Tribune, where “parents of fretful children might take the youngsters and still be able to see and hear the show though other patrons will be undisturbed.”

sadly, the theater struggled in later years and either closed or was on the brink of closing (i forget).   a group of people formed a co-op, raised some funds and bought the building.  renovation and preservation is in the works…wish we could have done the same for our lovely, local orpheum theater

scenes from sica hollow…

hubbkf, the daughter, the two cousins and i spent the day saturday at sica hollow  which is one of my favorite places…

yep, it was a dry summer

dry river bed

we went off the trail and walked the river bed for awhile…i didn’t think it had been that dry up in these parts, but it was…hubbkf says that last year, there was a stream here…shortly after we started hiking, danajo’s camera went on the fritz momentarily…oooh, spooky!  after a bit, hubbkf and the cousins decided to go check out a couple of other sites…the daughter an i continued on the trail…why?  because, that’s just how she rolls…sometimes she gets something in her head and that’s it…she starts something, she has to finish…which is admirable up to a point…this point to be exact…

thigh master!

are we there yet?

and this is where i discover that i am not good with a camera…

i don't know what this is about...

this camera is not point and shoot…

after we all rendevouzed and had some lunch (pics forthcoming!) it was time to conquer this:

and they were never seen again…

it’s supposed to be an interpretive trail, but either the ‘interpretive’ sign thingies were out being cleaned, or it’s the worst interpretive trail ever…it does however, have a giant vag tree…

careful, now!

careful, now!

here’s something less disturbing:

pondering...

my girl on a bridge…

more wholesome goodness…

rly? that's all you got?

more of my girl on a bridge…

and here’s some fun!

shroomy...

fun guy tree

oh, and look!  hubbkf is o.k…the giant vagina did not hurt him at all…

jaunty...

hubbkf being all jaunty and such…

this area of the park actually did have water…the hills along this trail were populated with some random little streams that made random little waterfalls…yes, there is one in there somewhere…

splashy!

splashy!

true, i do not know what i’m doing half the time with a camera, but this one’s kind of cool:

really splashy

but this is kind of cool…

this guy does know what he’s doing:

shhhhhhh...

focusing…focusing…

heaven’s little carton…

just so you know, this is freaking heaven…

questions for the ages…

so, yesterday hubbkf and i spent much time out of doors performing various yardly duties…in my ever-hopeful spirit of eternal springtime, was planting and transplanting the poor flowers and plants that will eventually succumb to my neglect come august…

as always when i’m working out in the yard, my thoughts drift to nature, the natural world and all that…

later in the day, i accompanied hubbkf to his teevee station to hang out while he worked a bit on the pledge drive…they’ve been able to upgrade not only their studios, but all their equipment as well and i must say, it is mighty impressive…media technology still stumps me to this day, which is weird since i was in the biz for quite a while…their are some things however, that my pea-brain is never going to get…

once we left the station, we decided to make a walmart run…my mind really wanders when we travel and the entire day just gave me way too many things to think about…so, i asked hubbkf if he ever thought of ‘the big stuff’ kind of questions…you know, how did we get here…what’s it all about…

i can usually muddle my way through those ones…but what i really don’t get is:  how did the universe get here?  and what exactly IS the universe?

if somebody could help me out with that, i would really appreciate it…
