rocks that i have found…

one day hubbkf took a break from slaughtering pheasants for us to take a walk along an area of the missouri river that has some gorgeous cliffs and an incredible beachy shoreline to look for rocks.  he found a couple of pretty good ones with shell fossils in them…i found this one:

tubular!

is this what butter-rum lifesavers are made from?

as you can see it’s amber in color and it has stuff trapped in it…there is a segment that looks like a candle wick, otherwise just bits of brown flecks…it’s completely smooth and it’s the neatest rock i’ve ever found…

on another day, i took a walk along the river directly behind our cabin to do more rock hunting…this shoreline didn’t offer the bigger stones, and there wasn’t a lot to choose from, but i still found some to take home…this one is similar to the tubular one in color and it does have stuff floating in it as well, but it feels rougher…

what is it?

looks like something’s in there…

i found some more that were waxy in texture and darker in color…

it’s got layers!

oooh…waxy

wow, i have some man-hands…don’t judge…the camera adds pounds…anyhoo, since i mostly dinked around in earth science and geology classes (even though i LOVED the classes) i haf no idea what types of rocks…if they are even rocks these might be…also, too…if anyone is interested in looking at them more closely, i can have hubbkf take some decent pictures with a decent camera…

the rest of the rocks i found are probably only interesting to me…i found some that i will be polishing and gifting or selling as worry stones…i’m also working on some art pieces with rocks…again, don’t judge!

i don’t know what it is, but i have an utter fascination with the missouri river and the rocks i find along the shoreline…could be a little left-over clark mojo…or that some of the shoreline reminds me of southern ireland…or just the vast mystery of the river itself…

i just want to save this forever…

this made me laff so hard i cried…
